Survey Party Chief

Arc Surveys is looking for Survey Party Chiefs to supervise the layout of residential and commercial developments, energy projects and municipal projects in the Calgary area. This is an exciting opportunity to work with a growing property surveying company that is expanding in Calgary and Edmonton.

Responsibilities include:

  • Supervise the layout of residential and commercial developments.
  • Experience in municipal surveying, including site plans, topographic surveys, drone surveys and development permit (DP) surveys.
  • Performing cadastral surveys, right-of-way planning, condominium surveys, and subdivision plans based on field and documentary evidence.
  • Communicate field details to the office, and submit field notes and data.
  • Interpret survey plans in the field.
  • If necessary, delegate basic workload tasks to an assistant.
  • Ensure that survey equipment is maintained.

Qualifications for the job:

  • Geomatics degree or equivalent education/experience
  • Experience in municipal and legal surveying.
  • 1-3 years of experience leading as a Land Surveyor Party Chief
  • Proficient with robotic total station and GPS equipment
  • Great attitude and willingness to learn and take on new opportunities.
  • Time management
  • Excellent penmanship
  • Self-driven and motivated
  • Strong math and calculation skills
  • Valid driver’s license
  • Possessing a sense of ownership and responsibility

What You’ll Be Doing

· Assist the Survey Party Chief with daily field operations.

· Operate and maintain Total Station & GPS equipment

· Record accurate field notes and locate necessary survey evidence.

· Ensure proper care and handling of all surveying instruments.

· Perform other duties as needed to support survey projects.

What We’re Looking For

· Geomatics degree or equivalent experience – This is a must!

· Physically fit – Fieldwork requires stamina and endurance.

Drafting Technician

Arc Surveys is a leading provider of Real Property Reports and land surveying services. We are dedicated to precision, professionalism, and delivering high-quality survey solutions to our clients. We’re looking for a skilled and detail-oriented Drafting Technician to join our dynamic team.

Position Overview:
As a Drafting Technician at Arc Surveys, you will be responsible for producing accurate survey plans and deliverables using AutoCAD, MicroSurvey, or equivalent drafting software. You will work closely with field crews, project managers, and clients to ensure the integrity and quality of all drafted documents.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Interpret and analyze field notes and survey data to prepare accurate drawings.

  • Perform survey calculations and quality control checks on a variety of plans.

  • Produce Subdivision Plans, Condominium Plans, Topographic Surveys, Real Property Reports, and other deliverables.

  • Collaborate with field teams and office staff to ensure efficient workflow and clear communication.

  • Respond to client inquiries and provide excellent customer service as required.

Qualifications and Skills:

  • Diploma in Geomatics, Civil Engineering, Drafting, or a related discipline.

  • Preference for applicants with drafting experience in a professional land survey environment.

  • Proficient in AutoCAD, MicroSurvey, and Microsoft Office applications.

  • Strong attention to detail and accuracy.

  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills.

  • Ability to manage a heavy workload in a fast-paced environment.

  • Responsible, self-motivated, and eager to learn.

Preferred:

  • Experience in client-facing roles or customer service.
